Or as I like to say, “Better put that thing away before someone uses it for bait.”

What I learned from my experiences with workplace harassment is that my harassers were all about getting my goat. What united them was their delight in making women uncomfortable. I think it gave them a sense of dominance. I certainly didn’t feel singled out by their behavior.

I decided I was going hand whatever they threw at me right back. And it worked. It embarassed and flumoxed them. All because, just as you say Charlotte Franklin , I refused to abet their behavior.

“Better put that thing away before someone uses it for bait.”

This is simply the best line!!!! I wish I had known it years ago. :)
You make an excellent point, Meg. Harassment is designed to make the harasser feel better while the “harassee” (sp?) feels worse. I want to share what I know and what I was taught…
