I never have had any genetic testing done regarding this condition. I have never heard that anyone else in my family had this condition, but, then again, it’s not exactly something that would get talked about at Thanksgiving dinner. Also, as far as I know, there is no specific gene to point to, it’s just that it is statistically found to run in some families.

If your daughter’s other symptoms are related to her menstrual cycle, something to investigate is if the trapping of her menses has, over time, created tissue damage such as pelvic adhesions or endometriosis.
