And this is exactly why I hope Medium sees fit to make this change. I would hope your member-exclusive stories would get even more exposure if you could have them included in publications.

I first found out about it when a writer submitted a locked poem and I discovered I was unable to publish it. I had to ask her to make the choice between her work being in the publication and getting paid.This didn’t feel right, but it was they were the only options available.

A short while later, as I discovered when I requested a work for publication, the Medium-generated boilerplate now includes this line in reference to the conditions to which a writer is consenting by agreeing to be in a publication:

This will allow publication editors to edit your story and make it member-only. Any potential payment for your locked story in the publication will accrue to the publication owner.

Since RP is not a Partner Publication, this was weird, and I had to add my own disclaimer that RP did not take this action at this time.
